Annual Tournament Rules

The Friday Golf Association annual tournament is held over five weeks, normally during the month of August.  If there are only four Friday's in August, the last Friday of July is also an annual tournament game.   Members must participate in at least three of the five rounds for tournament eligibility.   If a member plays in more than three rounds, the best three rounds based on net score will be used.  The same three rounds will be used for the best net score prize, best gross score prize, and the lowest total putts prize.

1.         There are no winter rules in effect.   Play it as it lies unless the club designates otherwise.

2.         Count your putts and putt out every hole.  No gimmes.  A putt from off the green is not considered a putt unless the player has already made a putt on that green.  If a player makes a putt on the green, and the ball rolls off the green, every subsequent stroke should still be counted as a putt.

3.         There is no provision for a special putting ball.  The ball you started with on the tee should be the ball you finish the hole with.

4.         If a ball is hit out of bounds or lost, the player can re-hit from the spot of the original hit with a stroke and distance penalty.  Alternatively, the player can drop a ball in the vicinity of where it went out of bounds or was lost with a two stroke penalty.  If a provisional ball is hit, and the original ball is in fact out of bounds or lost, the provisional ball must then be played.

5.         Be aware of your allowed drop positions after hitting a ball into a hazard.  If not sure, ask your playing partners.

6.         Be aware of the local rules and where they apply.  Each course has it's own local rules, which are usually found on the back of the scorecard.

7.         All par 3 holes will be used for the closest to pin competitions, with winning sleeves awarded at the annual banquet.

8.         If we all play by the rules, we will have a much fairer competition.
